Most of us can do with some extra income to help with that last stretch before the next pay check. We look at what you can do to earn some extra cash each month.
Sell your old stuff
We all have items in our cupboards that we haven’t used for years, but we keep it just in case we might need it in the future. Except for the fact that you are well on your way to becoming Mr or Mrs Hoarder, you could be missing out on some serious bucks that might help during the months when things are really tight. Take some time to sort through your cupboards to determine what you would like to keep and what you would like to sell. Do your research to see what similar second hand items are going for and make your price. There are great digital platforms where you can upload your items for sale. Just be weary of chancers and always be alert if you meet someone that you do not know.
Do you have a passion for photography? Do you enjoy capturing beautiful and unique moments? Then there might just be an opportunity for you to share your moments and receive reimbursement for your art. Attend events and take pictures that you can then offer to the event for compensation. Create an online profile where you can share your images and have them up for sale. There are many free platforms that will allow you to showcase your work online.
Try your hand at freelancing
Are you really talented in a specific field? If you have some skills that might be in demand, you should consider starting a freelance business. Depending on what you decide to do, you should not need a large amount of capital. Social Media is a cost-effective tool that could help you potentially reach a wide range of new customers. Start by advertising your services online and ask family and friends to share so that you can reach a bigger audience.
Are you able to explain and simplify complex concepts to help others understand? Then jump on the tutor wagon. Whether it is Maths, English or Science or even tutoring on a University level, you can charge an hourly rate for your services. That little extra can go a long way when the debit orders start coming through at the end of the month.
Surveys & paid focus groups
Subscribe to platforms that regularly send out surveys that takes as little as 10 minutes to complete. This is may not provide the most consistent income, but it will be well worth it. Do some research and find out where you can sign up to join a survey platform or focus group.
